O Departamento de Cultura, Mídia e Esporte do Reino Unido anunciou o tombamento da casa em 20 Northmoor Road, Oxford, onde Tolkien morou entre 1930 e 1937, e escreveu O Hobbit e grande parte de O Senhor dos Anéis. Com o tombamento - relatado aqui, entre outras fontes - a casa, que recentemente foi vendida por 1,6 milhão de libras, está protegida de significativas alterações internas ou externas sem autorização oficial.

The United Kingdom's Department for Culture, Media and Sport announced the listing of the house at 20 Northmoor Road, Oxford, where Tolkien lived between 1930 and 1937, and wrote The Hobbit and much of The Lord of the Rings. With the listing - reported here, among other sources - the house, which was recently sold for 1.6 million pounds, is protected from significant internal or external changes without official authorisation.

A homepage de meu site Gondolin sofreu uma pequena "plástica". A imagem que é o link para este blog - a palavra Ondolindello em tengwar não-padrão para o quenya, conforme escrita pelo próprio JRRT - foi processada para ficar mais nítida, e o "pergaminho" com links para artigos está mais visível.

The homepage of my Gondolin site has undergone a little "facelift". The image that links to this blog - the word Ondolindello in nonstandard tengwar for Quenya, as written by JRRT himself - has been processed to become sharper, and the "parchment" with links to articles is more visible.

A New Line anunciou que a versão estendida do Retorno do Rei conterá - finalmente! - cenas sobre a morte de Saruman, o romance entre Éowyn e Faramir, e o confronto entre Aragorn e a Boca de Sauron. Haverá também nova música de Howard Shore. Detalhes na Reuters e na Zap2it. Infelizmente não veremos o Expurgo do Condado - importante sob os pontos de vista político, ético, ambiental e psicológico! - nem mesmo nessa versão.

New Line announced that the extended version of The Return of the King will contain - at last! - scenes on the death of Saruman, the romance between Éowyn and Faramir, and the confrontation between Aragorn and the Mouth of Sauron. There will also be new music by Howard Shore. Details at Reuters and Zap2it. Unfortunately we will not see the Scouring of the Shire - important from the political, ethical, environmental and psychological viewpoints! - even in this version.

Há um projeto na Câmara Municipal de São Paulo que poderá criar - talvez já em 2004 - a Praça Professor Tolkien em um bairro bem conhecido de São Paulo. Será provavelmente a primeira cidade a dar o nome de JRRT a uma praça. No Reino Unido, existem uma Tolkien Road em Eastbourne e um Tolkien Way em Stoke-on-Trent (este provavelmente homenageando o Padre John Francis Tolkien, filho de JRRT). Um asteróide chamado 2675 Tolkien foi descoberto por M. Watt em 1982-04-14.

There is a project in São Paulo Municipal Council that may create - perhaps already in 2004 - the Praça Professor Tolkien [Professor Tolkien Square] in a well-known neighbourhood of São Paulo. This will probably be the first city giving JRRT's name to a square. In the United Kingdom there exist a Tolkien Road in Eastbourne and a Tolkien Way in Stoke-on-Trent (the latter probably in honour of Father John Francis Tolkien, JRRT's son). An asteroid called 2675 Tolkien was discovered by M. Watt in 1982-04-14.

GONDOLIN TEM NOVA HOMEPAGE / GONDOLIN HAS A NEW HOMEPAGE
Melhorei (na minha opinião) o aspecto da homepage do meu site Gondolin. As principais alterações foram a retirada do cabeçalho, que mostrava a chegada de Tuor a Gondolin (por Ted Nasmith), e a inclusão do logo, baseado no brasão de Idril que desenhei inspirado em JRRT. Meu epesse em tengwar foi incluído no novo cabeçalho "de pergaminho", e a capa de Explicando Tolkien está mais visível.

I have improved (in my opinion) the look of the homepage of my Gondolin site. The main changes were the removal of the header showing Tuor's arrival in Gondolin (by Ted Nasmith) and the inclusion of the logo, based on Idril's device which I drew inspired by JRRT. My epesse in tengwar was included on the new "parchment" header, and the cover of Explicando Tolkien is more visible.
